Cabinet hardware and kitchen layout to maximize a small kitchen space

If your kitchen area is 150 sq feet or less then the National Kitchen and Bath Association defines it as a small kitchen. Small kitchens are hard on storage space and are a designers challenge. To make this space look large and functional a few ideas can go a long way.Light colored walls and cabinets, fitted with glass doors, are a good way to start. This along with bright lights will highlight the ventilation in the room and distract us from the small size. Using kitchen appliances that are in proportion to the room is a good way to make a little more usable space in the room. Laying the tiles on the floor at an angle can also give the illusion of a large space. Kitchen islands fitted with granite slabs can be a good table area as well as serve as a storage space while giving the kitchen a
fancy look.

Since the space is small using large metal hardware can defeat the purpose of the space. Go for frosted glass knobs, ceramic door pulls or acrylic handles and other hardware that might give the cabinets a better look. If you are into antiques then you can look for some antique reproduced glass hardware to go with your theme. The Carol Beachs collection carries with it knobs and pulls ashioned in the form of flwoers, fruits and bell peper knobs or caulifower knobs in different metals, colors and even in the form of jewel knobs. Take a look at frosted glass knobs and pulls or Amber glass knobs and hardware from Amerock Company which come with a brass base.
