Kitchen cabinets and kitchen tiles in your refacing project.

If you are remodeling your home and you are wondering how to spring that extra cash for the kitchen, then you might want to look into something called refacing. Kitchen refacing is a cost effective method of getting the look of a remodeled kitchen at a fraction of the cost. Refacing uses the shelves and
other storage spaces of the original cabinets and changes only the outer covering or the doors or the cabinets. This can be designed to suit the rest of the decor right from the door knobs and pulls to other cabinet door hardware.

Look for some wood, laminate or veneers that blend with the rest of the home decor. Add a touch of class by finding the right kind of door hardware, ceramic, glass, crystal or metal door pulls, handle sets, door knobs and drawer handles. Changing the doors and the door hardware will give you that look of elegance and upgrade that you were looking for and at the same time not be a cash cruncher. Look for ideas with Deltana or Emtek, hardware companies.

Kitchen floors and counter walls are other areas that might be of remodeling value. Look for unglazed, stain & heat resistant tiles, which are non-porous and durable. Tiles are a good alternative to granite and marble which can be slippery and not practical. While the tiles can be easily broken or chipped and can accumulate grout around the edges they are a better alternative because of the relative ease with which they can be replaced. Lowe’s and Sears have a store of ideas for your kitchen remodeling efforts.
